About Me:
Nicholas Salerno is an active music educator, conductor, and performer in the Greater Boston Metropolitan Area. Born in New Jersey, the most influential figures he had throughout his life were his music teachers. Once he began running rehearsals and teaching lessons in high school, he knew he wanted to pursue music education.
Extracurricularly, Nicholas has been practicing his teaching through his time at Boston University through his private studio as well as through the organization Boston After-School Music (B.A.M.). Privately, Nicholas has taught lessons on trumpet, trombone, french horn, guitar, piano, and ukulele. It is a goal of his to both inspire and encourage exploration not only of the instrument but of each student’s musical identity. In his time with B.A.M., Nicholas has become a member of the board, a head instructor, and most recently a curriculum developer. Recently, he created a curriculum for a class dedicated to Madison Park Technical School, titled Music Appreciation and Creation.
As a conductor, Nicholas has created and directed two ensembles: The Last Name Orchestra and the Nick Salerno New Music Ensemble. Both of these ensembles consist of BU students with the goal of creating community-driven projects. Nicholas desires to both create and continue taking opportunities to refine his skills as an educator, performer, and conductor.
